Summary:
Responsible for supervising activities of drivers and yard associates completing their assigned daily tasks in the Transportation Department, in a safe, professional, productive manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned:
• Dispatch Drivers / Outside Carriers on outbound trips
• Receive and key-in completed load sheets, audit, and update drivers pay per company policy
• Process, monitor and audit driver control information store requests for salvage picks, special delivery instructions
• Update equipment activity and yard control system. NAVIS
• Process, monitor and audit driver control information, DOT hours of service
• Handle all processing and reporting of yard safety or over-the-road incident
• Responsible for DOT testing as needed
• Monitor and meet all order accuracy requirements
• Conduct meetings with associates
• Assist in the training and development of department associates
• Communicate daily with fellow supervisors and managers on daily operational activities
• Manage and promote safety and sanitation in all areas

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: Two year transportation, logistics or supply chain management degree preferred or distribution/transportation experience equivalent.
Computer and math skills needed to successfully perform this job. Basic computer skills should include Microsoft Word and Excel. Computer skills should also include the ability to learn transportation systems. Math skills should include basis math skills needed for distribution systems as well as developing costing models.
Certificates and Licenses: Possess commercial driver’s license preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong technical skills as it relates to web-based applications/programs with the ability to learn and master different operating systems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages Van Drivers, Van Marshallers, and Driver Team Leaders.

Harris Teeter reasonably expects to pay between $69,200 and $113,600 for this role as a newly hired associate. Pay may depend on previous experience and skill sets of the applicant.
