This job of Floater could encompass multiple job responsibilities within the distribution center – Selector, Loader, Forklift Replenisher, and Salvage Dock.
Selector -
Summary: Responsible to select product, within establishment guidelines for shipment to stores, in a safe, accurate and efficient way by performing the following duties. Must ensure that finished pallets are placed in the proper loading area and that records of outed product and daily production are maintained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Read customer order to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Convey product from storage area to designated shipping areas.
Sort and place product or items on pallets or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
Fill requisitions or requests for stock items.
Assemble customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves ensuring that product is not damaged.
Shrink wrap product on pallet according to procedure.
Mark products or items with identifying information.
Use computer to enter records.
Compile information to complete credit memo regarding items and quantity from customer specifications.
Drive vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
Fill in for clerks
Santiation duties and responsibilities
Perform additional job functions as requested by supervisor

Loader -
Summary: Responsible for safe, accurate, and efficient loading of finished pallets of product onto assigned trailers for delivery to the retail stores.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Read load sheet or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or pallets to be moved.
Prepare for assignment of doors and loads.
Conduct daily operator checklist - Powered Industrial Equipment Inspection.
Load materials into trailer per policies and procedures and install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage to product in transit.
Place load lock in proper location on trailer and put invoices in trailer before finalizing load.
Ensure that all cube break selecting tags and the trailer numbers are recorded on the door sheet.
Transfer store number and trailer number of finished loads to the daily load sheet.
Notify dispatch when a store load is complete in MDS to have the switcher move trailer from door.
Ensure trailers are properly restrained and chocked.
Operate industrial pallet jack to assist in loading or moving materials and products.
Complete product handbills when necessary.
Clean and straighten assigned loading dock area before leaving daily.

Forklift Replenisher -
Summary: Responsible for replenishing empty or near-empty selecting slots insuring that product is properly rotated. Drive electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
Move levers and press pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
Position forks under, over, or around loaded pallets, boxes, products, or materials, and transports load to designated area.
Unload and stack product by raising and lowering lifting device.
Load or unload materials onto or of pallets.
Reference RFS computer and/or appropriate computer printout to find overhead location of item which needs to be replenished.
Remove needed product from overhead slot and place in appropriate selecting slot using the standard methods for replenishment.
Record appropriate information in RFS computer concerning replenished product.
Return empty pallets from selecting slots to dock stack 16" high.
Remove plastic wrap, string or tape from selection slots.
Seperate chep, regular, and plastic pallets from slots.
Keep work area clean and clear of debris.
Place "lost" cases in correct locations as needed.
Follow through with additional requests by supervisor
Follow company's attendance policy.
Follow company's safety policies and procedures.
Salvage Dock –
Summary: Responsible for keeping the salvage dock area clean and organized by unloading and loading salvage. Drive electric powered industrial truck equipped with lifting devices such as forklift to push, pull, lift, stack, tier, or move products, equipment, or materials by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Move levers and press dead man pedals to drive truck and control movement of lifting apparatus.
Position forks under, over, or around loaded pallets, boxes, products, or materials, and transports load to designated area.
Unload and stack product by raising and lowering lifting device.
Load or unload materials (milk & egg crates, cardboard & plastic, load bars, pallets, shelving, etc.) onto or off trailers
Separate salvage items to be delivered to appropriate locations
Keep work area clean and clear of debris.
Bail cardboard and plastic
Cross training may be required
Follow company's policies and procedures.
Other duties as may be assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one to other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Warehouse management system (Triceps), VLM Time System, Forklift RF Unit, Triceps Scan Station.
Certificates and Licenses:
Ability to pass forklift certification.
