Your Purpose
The Corporate Paralegal will support and report to the Senior Corporate Counsel and will also provide periodic support to the other attorneys in the Legal Department. The Corporate Paralegal should be experienced, able to work independently, make decisions, keep up with a high volume of documents and be an integral part of a busy and fast-paced in-house legal department.
What You’ll Do
Contract Review & Management:
- Assisting with all aspects of basic and complex commercial and corporate transactions, including drafting, review and revision of a variety of contracts such as vendor agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and service agreements under attorney supervision; and
- Managing the life cycle of contracts including obtaining needed contract terms from business partners, obtaining signatures, entering contract information into a contract management system and tracking contract expirations.
Litigation & Disputes:
- Assisting with litigation matters such as fact gathering, document collection, discovery responses and litigation holds.
- Handling under attorney supervision civil and criminal subpoenas, warrants, other governmental inquiries, civil investigative demands, consumer bureau complaints, and other investigative charges; and
- Coordinating with outside counsel and internal stakeholders to manage all aspects of active litigation, pre-litigation claims, and administrative proceedings including, but not limited to, EEOC and other employment charges.
Compliance and Corporate Governance
- Assisting with compliance-related matters such as immigration issues, garnishments, and updating insurance forms and reviewing vendor insurance coverage for compliance; and
- Drafting and managing corporate records.
Administrative & Legal Operations Support
- Preparing and maintain legal department reports, logs and metrics.
- Supporting budgeting, invoice review and vendor billing coordination for outside counsel.
- Assisting the attorneys in the Legal Department with administrative tasks such as filing, document coordination, setting up meetings and compiling documents, and other tasks as assigned.

What You Bring
Education/Experience:
- Four-year college or paralegal certificate; and seven to ten years related experience and/or training as a working paralegal; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certificates, Licenses, and/or Designations:
- This individual should be a notary public, or be willing to become a notary public, at Harris Teeter’s expense.

Physical Demands
Physical demands include, but are not limited to, high aptitude for standing and walking endurance, sitting while driving to various stores, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling climbing ladders of various types, bending, squatting, and kneeling, and working in different temperatures inside and outside the store.
