Overview:
All Asset Protection Field Personnel will be directly responsible for executing Harris Teeter’s Asset Protection and Safety programs, within an assigned group of stores. They will ultimately be responsible for ensuring program implementation designed to minimize shrink, maximize physical security, support personal safety of associates, customers, and vendors, as well as drive the reduction of Workers Compensation and General Liability. 
Summary:  

The Asset Protection Specialists and the Asset Protection Auditors will work together under the supervision of the Regional Asset Protection Manager in their assigned stores to execute all department objectives. 

The Asset Protection Specialist will focus on physical security, theft resolution, internal/external investigations, shrink initiatives, critical incidents, The Bars Program, cash variances, operational controls and manage Asset Protection Coordinators assigned to them. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.  

•    Each Asset Protection Specialist will successfully complete a weekly admin list. This consists of a weekly review of business reports, investigate, and monitor compliance to include, but not limited to, physical security, cash handling, Point of Sale operational controls, and safety.

•    Develops and implements Asset Protection and Safety strategies to meet the needs of assigned stores

•    Directly supervises Asset Protection Coordinators assigned to stores

•    Successfully complete all assigned compliance and audit items with integrity

•    Partner with District Manager and Regional Operations to ensure successful implementation of all Asset Protection and Safety programs

•    Maintain consistent theft resolution both Internal and External

•    Conduct investigations timely and with integrity

•    Manages Asset Protection and Safety operations within assigned stores

•    Manage off duty police and security guard services within assigned stores

•    Ensure inventory investigations are conducted for under-performing stores, meeting the inventory investigation criteria, and will follow up to ensure corrective action is executed to ensure stores are following standards

•    Have a thorough understanding of all physical security equipment to include Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), Alarm Systems, Internet Monitoring, Transportation Integrity Programs, all keys, cores, and lock hardware, and ensured that all stores are utilizing this equipment as designed

•    Will oversee the Asset Protection Awareness program for all stores within the assigned stores and ensure those stores are meeting expectations for execution and implementation

•    Ensure Asset Protection training and awareness programs for all Store and District Managers as warranted with a strong presence in those stores that continue to fall below expectations in inventory shortage results 

•    Have a thorough understanding of all Point-of-Sale monitoring software and utilize these tools to consistently investigate any shrink related problems and exposures on the front end

•    Responsible for hiring, training, developing, and managing all Asset Protection Coordinator positions within his / her assigned stores and ensure these individuals are certified in a timely manner 

•    Review Case Management System weekly. Report any major incidents to the Regional Asset Protection Manager and ensure all entries are recorded proficiently

•    Adequately investigates all reported acts of dishonesty communicated both internally and externally. Make recommendations on implementing controls to prevent these same situations from reoccurring

•    Demonstrates a high level of energy and sense of urgency in responding to store problems as they relate to critical incidents, inventory shortage, cash shortages or safety related issues

•    Follow-up and complete additional assignments and tasks as delegated by Corporate Asset Protection 

•    Conducts annual evaluations as well as other needed documentation for Asset Protection Coordinators within assigned stores
•    Maintain proficiency in all department objectives relating to Price Integrity Audits, Asset Protection Audits, and inventory processes to be able to provide coverage for vacations or attrition

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Criminal Justice or Business Administration; or four years equivalent Retail Asset Protection experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Solid track record of interview skill sets. 

Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to complete written reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as inventory figures. Able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: 
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Inventory software and APMS database software.  Possess extensive knowledge in practical application of physical security systems to include CCTV, Alarm and POS monitoring software, internet monitoring, DC Seal Integrity system, all door locks and hardware. Ability to use Microsoft Office.

Certificates and Licenses: 
Required:  Certification by Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates 

Preferred:  Loss Prevention Certified (Loss Prevention Foundation) and/or Certified Forensic Interviewer (International Association of Interviewers) 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
Directly supervises Asset Protection Coordinators. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Flexibility:
The associate must be willing to travel with consecutive overnight stays up to 50% of the time. The associate must be willing to relocate anywhere in the Harris Teeter operating area, if necessary, both at the time of job acceptance and in the future based on Harris Teeter’s needs. The associate must be willing and able to frequently work for long periods of time which could exceed an eight-hour shift. The associate must be available and willing to work weekends and holidays, as necessary. The associate will need to respond to the needs of the business as crisis situations arise.
