Your Purpose
The Asset Protection Officer will assist store operations with the execution of all department initiatives with focus on external theft prevention/resolution, integrity, and safety in their assigned location(s).
What You’ll Do
• Take a proactive approach to theft resolution as a visible deterrent
• Respond to Purchek alarm activations to engage within the department standard
• Rotate between multiple entry/exits, opposite the guard service on duty
• Standing for extended periods of time
• Complete shoplifting apprehensions, preventions, and complete case management entries in compliance with policy RO-40 and department standards
• Work a variety of shifts including mornings, mid-shifts, and nights with availability (7) days a week
• Maintain open dialogue with the location Management team
• Coach, teach, and train all associates with Asset Protection initiatives while leading by example
• Observe and report any acts of associate dishonesty to supervisor
• Complete Asset Protection support visits as directed by supervisor
• Assist with critical incidents as directed by supervisor
• Support department as a member of the department’s Emergency Response Team for major critical incidents in multiple geographic areas
• When required, testify in criminal court proceedings on behalf of Harris Teeter
• Follow supervisor's directions regarding additional job responsibilities
• Follow company's attendance policy by coming to work on time, when scheduled, and in proper uniform
• Follow company's safety policies and procedures
• Other duties as may be assigned or required

What You Bring
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one year of retail experience
• Ability to professionally engage with customers, shoplifters, and law enforcement
• Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and de-escalate critical incidents
